A radio station in Uganda was fined over $1,000 after broadcasting a talk show that featured openly gay guests who said homosexuality was “an acceptable way of life.”

According to a BBC News report on Sunday, Radio Simba was fined by the Ugandan Broadcast Council and ordered to make a public apology for the August show.

The chairman of the council, Godfrey Mutabazi, said the program was “contrary to public morality and is not in compliance with existing law.”

Homosexuality is illegal in Uganda.

Information Minister Nsaba Buturo told the BBC that the radio show broke the law and and violated “God’s moral values.”

He said the guests on the show would not be sought for prosecution, but added, “We are not going to give them the opportunity to recruit others.”
