Germany

  • Statute: Paragraph 175
  • Penalty: Repealed in 1968 in East Germany; in 1969 in West Germany. Same-sex restrictions existed until 1989 in East Germany, until 1994 in West Germany.
  • Restrictions: None.

The age of consent in Germany, regulated by Article 182 StGB is 16, if the "offender" is over 21 years old. However, the deed is pursued only upon a motion (mostly submitted by parents of the "victim"). The sexual abuse on children (under 14) is regulated by Articles 176, 176a and 176b.
