The Toronto Police Association could launch a lawsuit as early as today against Councilor Kyle Rae over remarks he made about a raid on a lesbian bathhouse.

Rae was critical of the five undercover officers involved in the Sept. 14 raid on a social event at a bathhouse at Mutual and Carlton Sts. Rae, who is openly gay, charged it was the work of one "rogue" undercover unit who has also raided male gay events without approval of police management.

Police union boss Craig Bromell said he is meeting with his lawyers today to finalize the lawsuit, which names only Rae and seeks damages.

"There were unwarranted statements made that were not true and that upset" the officers, Bromell said last night.
