Kill the sodomy laws? I think not.

The Pilot is trying to confuse Virginians into thinking that the newspaper is doing us a big favor by getting the so-called government out of our bedrooms (editorial, Dec. 3). The reality is to further the gay-rights agenda the paper has adopted through its misplaced compassion for a lifestyle that is disease-ridden.

Gays make up only about 1.5 percent of the population, but they are about 45 percent of the throat gonorrhea cases in this country. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control reported that of the Hepatitis A cases, 66 percent in New York, 50 percent in San Francisco and 56 percent in Toronto in the first six months of 1991 were among homosexual gays.

The evidence is very clear. The act of homosexuality should be discriminated against, and we should ignore the privacy argument as just another ploy to promote the liberal agenda.
