Kansas lawmakers should heed the U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled 6-3 Thursday that a Texas ban on homosexual sex unconstitutionally violates privacy. Like Texas, Kansas’ law prohibits oral and anal sex between same-sex couples. And as the court said, such consenting adults have “the full right to engage in their conduct without intervention of the government.”

Even those who morally oppose homosexuality should object to the state trying to legislate the sex lives of consenting adults in the privacy of their homes. Even though the law has now become unenforceable as well as unconstitutional, Kansas legislators should go ahead and get it off the books.
