Our oral histories and collections are housed at the Oregon Historical Society in Portland, www.ohs.org, which is open to the public. GLAPN is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3) organization.
Some of the collections of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer history interest are:
Campaign for a Hate Free Oregon, 1989-1993
Summary: Correspondence, contributors' lists, expenditure reports, bank statements, volunteer and employee logs, election reports to the Oregon Secretary of State, organizing and strategy documents, and miscellaneous items, relating to the "Right to Privacy" political action committee and the "No on 9" campaign of 1992.
Gay and Lesbian History Collection, 1968-1993
Summary: Correspondence, political materials, brochures and advertisements from gay and lesbian businesses, political and religious groups, and social service organizations of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho; newspapers (1992-1996) addressing gay and lesbian issues, such as "Community News", "Twist", "The Lavender Network", "The Alternative Connection", and "Diversity"; video cassette of documentary "The City Nightclub" (1996).
Multnomah County (Or.) Wedding Album Project records [manuscript], circa 2004-2005.
Summary: Materials collected by the Multnomah County (Or.) Board of County Commissioners relating the marriages of same-sex couples in 2004, including photographs of couples, personal histories, testimonials, and letters of appreciation.
Roger Troen Papers, 1970-1979
Summary: national magazines containing articles about homosexuality or gay civil rights, a variety of local publications from Oregon and Washington, clippings from local newspapers about gay rights issues, correspondence, and miscellaneous political information from the 1970s.

The Shepherd Family Papers
Bill and Ann Shepherd became gay-rights activists when their daughter Susie came out to them in 1972. Ann was appointed to Oregon Governor Robert Straub's Task Force on Sexual Preference in 1976. The same year, Bill founded the Portland Town Council Legal Resource Group to ensure justice for sexual minorities. In 1976, together with Charles and Rita Knapp, they founded the Portland chapter of Parents of Gays, which ultimately joined the national organization, Parents & Friends of Lesbians & Gays (PFLAG).
